World Book Day

This year children had the option of dressing as a favourite book character, coming in their pyjamas or wearing school uniform.

We have been working for some time now on reading for pleasure. We know that being a habitual reader, reading for fun because you want to, is a greater predictor of future economic success and good mental health even than parental income. Getting our children into good, enjoyable reading habits is one of the very best things we can do for them.

Yesterday we had a virtual visit from Joseph Coelho. Joseph really inspired the children to read and to write and he has written to us and sent us stacks of his fantastic books of fiction and poetry - all available to borrow from the school library.

Here are a few pictures of the children enjoying the day.
